Oscar Isaac’s tough times in the Bryan Singer finale x-men film, X-Men: Apocalypsehas been widely documented. The star went so far as to say his time as the titular villain was atrocious. How does Isaac feel almost seven years later? Did his tone change after taking another chance on a superhero franchise, Marvel’s moon knight, a series accessible to anyone with a Disney+ subscription?
While talking to New York TimesIsaac explained why he was initially on board to tackle the apocalypse character and doesn’t “disown” the work he’s done in the Marvel movie timeline. The actor expressed his initial enthusiasm for the role was in part due to sharing the screen with such talented partners:
It seems most of Isaac’s frustration stems from wearing the awkward Apocalypse costume and not being able to interact with some of his favorite fellow actors without a hitch – a complaint I feel sympathetic towards. I imagine one of the benefits of being an actor and taking on one of these flagship franchises would be the opportunity to bond with some of the best actors in business.
Although it was a less than ideal situation for the actor, it doesn’t seem like Isaac’s time in Fox x-men the universe was all terrible:
It’s doubly heartbreaking that the actor’s time as Apocalypse wasn’t fulfilling, considering he was an X-Men fan and the character’s portrayal just wasn’t particularly well handled. . However, I’m glad to hear that Oscar Isaac looks back on his time as Apocalypse with some fondness, and it didn’t sour him on fully taking on superhero roles. If he had been put off by superhero movies, we might not have seen him in his starring role in Marvel’s high level dark series Moon Knight.
Although a return as Moon Knight has yet to be announced as one of the Upcoming Marvel Movies or another Marvel Disney+ series, it’s hard to imagine he won’t return to some degree after critics and fans praised Isaac’s work in the series.
Given the darker tone of moon knight, possibly an appearance in the next Marvel Blade movie would be a natural fit for Isaac’s return to the MCU? We’ll let you know if Blade receives any further updates…
