The coronavirus pandemic has forced delays in the regular season. Meanwhile in a normal 82-game campaign, the playoffs ended after the NBA Finals.
That day eight years ago, the 2013 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs went to Game 7.
No team has won two in a row this series in a back-and-forth affair. Both sides stole road games to force a win or come home scenario in the final game of the series.
The Heat hosted the Spurs and the game started slowly on the scorers’ side. Miami led San Antonio 18-16 after the first quarter.
The game remained tight until the fourth quarter when the pace slowed down again and the Miami defense blocked the San Antonio offense.
Miami edged San Antonio 23-17 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. The championship marked the second in Miami franchise history, as they had won the title a year before.
The same goes for LeBron James. It was also his second championship, and his performance definitely shone.
James led all scorers with 37 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals in 45 minutes. He shot 12 of 23 in total and 5 of 10 at 3 points, including the dagger:
“I’m LeBron James from downtown Akron, Ohio. I’m not even supposed to be here… I’m blessed.”
