Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United ‘heading for divorce’ after explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
That’s according to the man who spoke to the 37-year-old himself, with Morgan revealing he doesn’t see a future for the Old Trafford striker.
With Ronaldo criticizing the state of the club, United released a statement on Friday morning in which they announced they had “initiated appropriate action in response”.
All signs seem to point to the Portugal international’s contract being torn up at the Theater of Dreams.
His former team-mate Gary Neville, who was reprimanded by Ronaldo in his TalkTV interview, has urged the Red Devils to ‘terminate his contract’.
And speaking to talkSPORT, Morgan said the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was fully aware of the consequences his comments could bring.
Reacting to United’s response to White and Jordan, Morgan said: “Well, I think it’s highly unlikely that he will return to Manchester United.
“I think he knew when he did this interview that it would be highly unlikely for all the reasons he stated in the interview.

“So I think they are probably heading towards a divorce between Ronaldo and United.”
Asked by Jim White whether Ronaldo has brought the club into disrepute, Morgan replied: “No. I think the club has been discredited for a long time.
“And Cristiano Ronaldo came back last season, he scored 24 goals, and just to remind everyone, he scored one more goal in the Premier League last season than Harry Kane, who by common consent, is one of the top three or four strikers in the world.
“He’s also scored six Champions League goals, and as he pointed out, you don’t go from ‘that guy’ to someone who can’t play football in three months.”
Asked if he thinks Ronaldo has been disrespectful to United, Morgan said simply: “They didn’t show him any respect.”
After later getting embroiled in a heated exchange with Simon Jordan, White asked Morgan if the interview would ultimately prove to be the end of Ronaldo’s United career.
To which he said, “I would probably think so. I think it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that they’ve probably reached an irreparable stage and that’s why he did the interview.
“But his heart has been at Manchester United for a very long time since he was 18.
“And he doesn’t feel happy about it all, he feels like he’s at his wit’s end about it.
“I think Ronaldo is a very smart guy, and he didn’t do this casually on a whim, he thought about it for quite a long time and he decided it was the right time to express himself and have a say.
“He is fully, fully aware that other people may want to speak up and have their say like Wayne Rooney did today, Gary Neville did yesterday, Manchester United will do now.
“But again, I’m just saying he’s dropped a lot of truth bombs here as far as I’m concerned, let’s see if anyone wants to challenge the truths he’s put out, and if they do, fair enough , it will take this.
“But I believe Ronaldo, and I think many Manchester United fans would be better served themselves and their club to listen to his criticism of the club and understand that when someone of that stature says ‘Manchester United haven’t gone anywhere in the last 12 years”, they should take this very seriously and they should ask themselves why.
