The Olympic swimmer watched a match between Australian tennis player Ashleigh Barty and American Danielle Collins at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
The 39-year-old appeared in high spirits as he took part in the Grand Slam tennis tournament at Melbourne Park alongside a friend.

The pair shared a laugh in the stands as the biting action unfolded on the pitch below.
Ian was dressed casually for the outing, opting for a dark blue blazer over a black t-shirt.
He added a pair of dark shorts to the ensemble and had a pass on a blue lanyard hanging around his neck.

It comes after Ian revealed he would like to become a father someday soon.
Speaking to the Herald Sun, he said: “I would love to be a father at some point”, adding that he hopes his children will enjoy swimming as much as he does.
“I would love the kids in the pool, but I would love to play in the pool and if they happen to like anything else, I’m happy with that as well,” he said.

Ian’s split from ex Ryan Channing in 2019 ended the couple’s surrogacy plans.
Ryan was Ian’s first public boyfriend since coming out as gay in an interview with Michael Parkinson in 2014.
In August 2019, a source close to Ian and Ryan told Daily Mail Australia that the couple had “rekindled their romance” while vacationing in Ibiza, Spain.

According to some rumors, they would even consider getting “engaged”.
“They are trying to find the nearest Cartier store for the rings,” the alleged source said at the time.
But in November 2019 Ryan told Daily Mail Australia he was no longer in a relationship with Ian and also denied they reconciled in August.
