Olivia Wilde’s movie don’t worry darling has been surrounded by various rumors and the director and actor opens up about the drama. By making an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen ColbertWilde spoke about the “spit-gate” incident at the Venice Film Festival.

A video from the film’s premiere has gone viral where Harry Styles allegedly spat at Chris Pine as he took his seat in the theatre. There was a big debate on social media about whether the former One Direction member cleared up his don’t worry darling co-starred.

“Another one of our weird Spit-Gate rumors that you may have heard of is that I think…” Wilde began to say in a preview of his appearance on the CBS late-night show before let Colbert cut it off.

Colbert chimed in to read a question on his card that read, “Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine, why or why not?” Support your answer.

“No, he didn’t,” Wilde said with a laugh. “But I think it’s a perfect example of, like, people going for drama wherever they can. Harry didn’t spit on Chris, actually…”

Pine denied that Styles spat on him with a representative issuing a statement to People which read: “This is a ridiculous story – a complete fabrication and the result of a bizarre online illusion that is clearly misleading and allows for foolish speculation.”
