The Ole Miss Rebels pulled off a stunning win over the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon to open their SEC roster, and the football Twitter account had a little fun at the Cats’ expense.
After the Rebels’ No. 14 win, their Twitter account tweeted an image of a basketball at the Wildcats, poking fun at their historic success as a basketball school.
Saturday’s game was shot late by the Ole Miss defense. With less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Kentucky quarterback Will Levis held the ball in the red zone, and Austin Keys forced a fumble which was recovered by AJ Finley, giving the ball to the Rebels at their own 21. Kentucky got the ball back with 1:49 to go, and it pushed into the red zone again, but the Rebels forced another fumble from Levis to seal the final count.
With the victory, the Rebels improve their record to 5-0 for the first time since the 2014 season and start with a conference victory. Next week, Ole Miss will travel to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. CT.
