In our opinion, someone only deserves the title of style icon if they refuse to follow trends and only wear what they like. This year, Justin Bieber absolutely ticked the bill: Bieber’s 2021 was all about embracing streetwear, with an emphasis on playing with unique proportions and fits, courtesy of stylist Karla Welch. He has worn extra-wide pants on several occasions, a clearly divisive look. It’s the year Gen Z called skinny jeans “cheugy.”

He also nailed a black tie in a crisp black tuxedo while on a date with Hailey in July. He went all out with the details, including black lace-up dress shoes and a bonus little bow tie. It’s another proof of a true style icon: they keep their own style while appreciating the power of classic and timeless looks on occasion.
Bieber, of course, has always had a sense of style. He dabbled in western wear, skater chic and classic suits. But this year it seems to have found its groove, combining all of those components into one sleek, cohesive design.
