Blake Shelton shows fans his sentimental side. In the special Monday night 10th anniversary episode of The voice, the country singer put aside his usual chop-cutting ways while remembering his relationship with fellow trainer and future wife Gwen Stefani, and it was so cute. Blake, who has been on The voice since debuting in 2011, said the undeniable highlight of the past 20 seasons has been meeting Gwen. “People ask me all the time, ‘What is the greatest thing that has happened to you since you were The voice? “He remembers.” It’s obvious, isn’t it? I met my fiancee here. “
Recalling what first drew him to singer No Doubt, he admitted, “It’s hard to resist Gwen Stefani. The voice in a black van. It was cool for me. ”
Although Blake and Gwen often clash when trying to convince the singers to join their team on the show, Blake is all about the friendly rivalry. “I love it when she’s around,” he gushes. “She brings a very complicated competitive element to me in particular, but I like it. I love the challenge. Just knowing that she’s there and supporting me is pretty cool.”
Although the two have been together since late 2015 and are planning to tie the knot soon, Blake still can’t figure out his romance with Gwen. “If you had told me in 1996 that Gwen Stefani was going to be my girlfriend, I would have made you laugh out of the room,” he says. “I would have thought you were crazy. Saying it right away, I almost burst out laughing. It’s ridiculous.” As unexpected as the couple may be, there’s no denying that their romance and chemistry are the real deal, and we’re counting the days until they finally exchange “I do” – just hope Adam Levine will not end up objecting during the ceremony!
