An NYPD officer shot himself in the face in the locker room of his Bronx police station on Tuesday in an apparent suicide attempt, law enforcement sources said.
Colleagues from the 47th Precinct stationhouse on Laconia Ave. near E. 230th St. heard the shot around 10:45 a.m., sources said.
When they rushed into the locker room, they found the officer suffering from a head injury.
Cops took him to Jacobi Medical Center where he is expected to survive.
The officer, who has been with the department for two years and worked from 12 p.m. to 8 a.m., did not leave a note, but the scene and location of the injury indicated it was self-inflicted, said a police source.
Retired NYPD police officer Petlyn Job killed her boyfriend and then herself in their Brooklyn home on Friday, police said. Last month, an off-duty cop killed himself by shooting himself in a car near a park in Rosedale, Queens.
