The San Antonio Spurs have enjoyed the comforts of home in their last nine games, but now they have to hit the road. They will face the Denver Nuggets at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday at Ball Arena. Denver will strut after a win while Spurs stumble after a loss.
San Antonio found itself the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 125-101 punch to the stomach against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. San Antonio was down 100-80 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too difficult to recover. The losing side was reinforced by small forward DeMar DeRozan, who had 20 points.
Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, the Denver-Detroit Pistons game on Tuesday was still pretty decisive as Denver concluded it with a 134-119 home win. It was another big night for Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, who almost lost a triple-double with 27 points, 11 assists and eight draws.
Spurs are expected to lose that next par 5. They have missed punters playing the spread in their last three games, so buyers are wary.
San Antonio defeated Denver 119-109 in the teams’ previous meeting in January. The rematch could be a bit more difficult for San Antonio since the team will not have the advantage on the pitch. We’ll see if the change of location makes a difference.
