Jamie O’Hara has admitted Tottenham would become ‘Banter FC’ if they lose the North London derby on Sunday and find themselves behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.
The big rivals are preparing to fight for the first time this quarter, with more than local bragging rights at stake after a fortuitous reversal for both clubs ahead of the clash.
The entire elite table stood between Tottenham and Arsenal after three games of the season, with Spurs flying high at the top after three wins, while the Gunners were at their lowest with zero wins, zero goals and zero points .
Two games later, however, and that has all changed.
The 3-0 back-to-back defeats saw Spurs drop to seventh, while the back-to-back wins carried Mikel Arteta’s side to 13th, with North London’s momentum shifting past the all-important derby.
Now, if Arsenal earn three straight wins by beating their former enemies, they will go level on points with Tottenham and could even overtake their rivals if the goal difference reaches them.
And former Spurs star O’Hara has said he will turn off his phone if that happens.
“Tottenham are Banter FC,” the former midfielder told Sports Bar.
“If we are beaten 2-0, Arsenal overtakes us. This means that we are Banter FC, a million percent we will be Banter FC.
“And I’ll turn off my phone on Sunday if that happens.” It can’t happen!
“How do we get from the top of the league and the bottom of Arsenal and then in three games they’re above us ?!”
One man who really hopes that will happen is talkSPORT host Jason Cundy – who dubbed Sunday’s game as “El Crapico”.
The former Chelsea defender would love to stick the knife into Sports Bar co-host O’Hara and has said any fan of neurons will be hoping for an Arsenal victory on Sunday.
“I want Arsenal to win El Crapico,” he said.
“I just want to see the Spurs go below them after they dominate him at the top of the division, like they’ve already won the league after three games.
“Arsenal were relegated after three games, and they could overtake you.
“Any neutral fan would love to see this! “
