When it comes to adventure travel, there are generally two schools of thought. On the one hand, you have people who literally go big, creating great off-road machines that contain all the conveniences of home. The flip side is the minimalist approach, and although the use of a stick for marshmallows or hot dogs is the ultimate in a minimalist kitchen, this clever all-in-one portable kitchen is not far behind.
His name is Nomad Kitchen, and he’s from a newcomer aptly named Nomad Kitchen Company LLC. It is designed and developed to be a compact and easily portable kitchen that stores all the essentials and deploys quickly. It’s not just a box either – the Nomad kitchen offers a sink, a cutting area for food, a drying area for cleaning dishes and a location for your favorite two-burner stove.
It uses a sliding system with sturdy slides and lockable drawers capable of supporting 200 pounds. The stove shelf also includes a propane or other fuel bottle holder to keep everything nice and secure, whether you’re cooking at the campsite or traveling. Speaking of which, the shelves all fit into a box measuring just under 26 inches long, including the locking tab for the components. It’s short enough to fit a variety of vehicles and at 14.25 inches tall by 22 inches wide, it could also fit some hatchback models with smaller cargo areas.
The design was born out of so-called “outdoor adventure enthusiasts” who wanted a better solution for organizing kitchen equipment. The company is currently preparing for production, having reached its Indiegogo goal of $ 39,500. The early booking price of $ 799 is currently in effect until July, with the price increasing to $ 899 in August. The company will include a stove and a water tank for an additional cost. The first expeditions are expected to begin this summer, although coronavirus problems may delay this delay.
