If you don’t understand why Jodie Foster thanked Aaron Rodgers during his 2021 Golden Globes acceptance speech, you’re not alone. Just because she’s the reason Aaron and Shailene Woodley got together; she was just making a promise to Jimmy Kimmel. By accepting the MVP award at the NFL Honors Ceremony on February 6, Aaron thanked Jodie in his speech and announced that he was engaged. This led to an interesting exchange during Jodie’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on February 18, when Jimmy asked, “Do you know Aaron Rodgers?” To which she replied: “No.” Jimmy then asked, “If you win the Golden Globe, will you name it in your speech?” Without missing a beat, she said, “Absolutely.”
Jodie kept her promise did nothing to quell rumors that she created Shailene, her co-star in Mauritanianand Aaron, who plays for Jodie’s beloved Green Bay Packers. It was only after winning Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for Mauritanian that she was finally able to shut them down. “I didn’t create Shailene and Aaron, I never met Aaron Rodgers,” she told Yahoo Entertainment backstage at the Golden Globes. “But I might like to talk about how much I love the Green Bay Packers. And sometimes I can talk about it a little too much. So of course Shailene was very aware of my enthusiasm for the team.” She may not have them in place, but we have a feeling she will receive an invitation to the wedding. Aaron videoed him saying he was going to get Jodie back, after all.
