Nicki Minaj finally looked set to win her first-ever GRAMMY Award in her illustrious music career.
With the eligibility period for the 2023 GRAMMY Awards already over, there’s been a buzz on social media meaning the queen of rap will finally bring home her first Gramophone.
However, as the award is long overdue for the female rap icon, reactions from the Barbz are mixed – some elated while others are indifferent to the early predictions.
Will Nicki Minaj win her first GRAMMY?
According to Hits Daily Double, Nicki Minaj is currently the No. 1 in the Best Rap/Song Performance category at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards.
Early predictions dictate that Nicki Minaj’s new single “Super Freaky Girl” and Lil Baby-starring feature “Do We Have A Problem” lead the pack in the coveted hip-hop category. However, it looks like she has a tight field to beat to win her first gramophone.

Currently, predicted songs up for grabs include Lil Baby’s “In a Minute” and Latto’s “Big Energy,” the latter of which has a collaboration with Mariah Carey. “She’s Lookin’ for Me” and “Can’t Believe It” by Kid Cudi and “Burrow” by 2 Chainz, among many others. Khalid’s “God Did” is also in the running, as is Lil Tjay’s “Beat the Odds” and Yung Gravy’s TikTok smash “Betty (Get Money).

Although Nicki’s early predictions are promising, some Barbz aren’t convinced.

“Even if Nicki wins a Grammy, it’s still f the Grammys for how long it took. AND they still don’t have accreditation for how they disrespect rap culture, black culture and only elevate black people who they believe will remain silent as they dictate what hip hop is,” one netizen job.
Others are even point out that Latto would win the award and that the GRAMMYs would just do it to upset the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper. Rumors that the Recording Academy kicked Minaj out of the show ever since she performed the controversial “Roman Holiday” on the show in 2012 despite the last-minute debacle.
Nicki Minaj has been nominated for the GRAMMY Awards but like Katy Perry, she has yet to score her first. She has already been nominated ten times, including Best New Artist in 2012, but lost to Bon Iver. His debut album, “Pink Friday,” also lost to Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”
