Nicki Minaj came back strong after the release of new single Super Freaky Girl, but on Twitter she went viral for something completely different – a fake photo that purports to show her being chased by a horse.
The Megatron rapper surprised fans with new music and the return of her radio show Queen Radio to Amazon’s new app, Amp.
Nicki teased her new track with a racy clip on Instagram this week and Barbz can’t wait to see the video release.
However, Twitter is abuzz over a resurfaced rumor that Nicki was once chased by a horse through New York. Let’s debunk this image once and for all.
Rumor that a horse chased Nicki Minaj through NYC
This week, rumors began flooding Twitter that a horse ran away from a stable and chased Nicki Minaj across New York.
The edited image includes a shot of Nicki Minaj in a yellow outfit and pink hairdo next to an unidentified person in a similar outfit running down a street while being chased by a horse.
Much to fans’ relief, though it’s hardly surprising, the award-winning rapper is safe and sound and not undergoing horse-related therapy.
The image comes from a false report that surfaced on Facebook in December 2021 before going viral on Twitter through other outlets.
The bogus image appears to have resurfaced this month thanks to TikTokers using the image in videos and sharing the posts on Twitter:
A bogus image misleads fans
It’s safe to say that the photo fooled many fans when it surfaced last year and once again fooled the unwary. However, many comments are ironic.
“Please tell me this isn’t Nicki Minaj getting chased by a horse,” one Twitter user said. wrote.
Someone else tweeted: “To this day, I still wonder if this photo of Nicki Minaj being chased by a horse is real.”
another fan wrote in January: “People are really trying to spread fake news that Nicki Minaj was chased by a horse in Queens last night.”
Fake photos have already sent social media into a frenzy – and will again
This isn’t the first (and certainly won’t be the last) time users have been tricked by a fake news story.
After the 2022 Met Gala, many assumed that JLo and Vanessa Hudgens were wearing the same dress. However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out it was a hoax as the Hustlers actress didn’t even attend the event.
During the same event, Harry Styles fans were fooled by a Photoshopped image of the singer falling down the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. However, the photo is from an incident at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 that did not involve Harry or any other celebrities for that matter.
Recently, a fake photo of Harry Styles and Tom Holland caused a social media frenzy after many thought the stars had met to take a selfie. It turned out that the image was actually a pretty good Photoshop job.
There really are naughty little elves.
