Salaries reported for UFC 266 are available and it looks like Nick Diaz might be able to pull off a happy man.
The Stockton legend is estimated to have won between $ 400,000 and $ 516,000 in his first fight in over six years.
Estimates vary as they are based on approximations of previous contracts, trends and power of attraction. Other assumptions are made such as expected contract changes. All promotional compliance compensation figures are based on the formula negotiated with Venum.
Speaking of Venum, Diaz made $ 16,000 from his sponsorship while main event winner Alexander Volkanovski took home $ 42,000. This information is being made public, while the Nevada State Athletic Commission does not disclose the official salary of the fighters.
Among the estimates, Diaz had the highest flat rate of any fighters on the card.
Volkanovsky and Shevchenko, as champions, may have gotten a share of the pay-per-view purchases, which would make them the top earners on the card.
The 38-year-old lost to Robbie Lawler 17 years after their first battle, a clash where Diaz was the winner on this occasion.
Many fans just want to see Diaz retire from the sport and enjoy the rest of his life, but UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman still has some interest in Diaz.
He tweeted after the fight: “I want to see Nick Diaz fight again.”
Just days before the card, Diaz said he should fight Usman, not Lawler.
“I think I’ll beat Usman. I’ll have a better shot against Usman than against Lawler, just because I’ve beaten Lawler before.
“It doesn’t make sense for me to go in and fight Robbie Lawler again. I don’t know why I am doing this. It shouldn’t happen.
“Whoever set this up is an idiot. I don’t know why I’m doing this. I don’t know why this happened. I should fight Kamaru Usman, and that’s it.
