The Dolphins are 3-0!
Who would have thought! Even after giving up a late safety and allowing the Bills to reach their 41-yard line, the Dolphins picked up the win after the Bills couldn’t get the pick out before time expired. Miami is a legitimate competitor to the AFC.
Vikings ahead!
The Vikings spotted the Lions with a 14-point lead, quickly erased it, THEN fell 24-14 early in the fourth quarter. Yet when you play against the Lions, you are never left out. After Austin Seibert missed a 54-yard field goal with about 75 seconds left, Kirk Cousins orchestrated the game-winning run which he laser-capped to a streaky KJ Osborne for the 28-yard score. And while the Lions came through midfield in their bid to steal the game in the dying seconds, all hope was lost when Josh Metellus went down with the interception.
Sealing set INT!
Just when it looked like the Colts were going to fall to 0-3 this season, they saved their season by shocking Kansas City with a final-minute touchdown, then sealed the upset with a Rodney McLeod interception.
Foals go ahead
The Chiefs’ plethora of errors gave the Colts one too many chances. And with the game on the line, Matt Ryan delivered. He found Jelani Woods for a 12-yard touchdown with less than 30 seconds left to give Indianapolis the unlikely lead.
Roquan Smith INT –> FG winner!
The Bears are very grateful that they were able to retain Roquan Smith after his contract situation led to a trade request. Smith made one of the biggest plays of the season, as his interception set up Chicago’s winning field goal from Cairo Santos as time expired.
Mac Jones with two INTs
Mac Jones’ running ability today? Impressive, especially for him. His passing prowess? Not really. As he’s thrown over 250 yards, he threw two interceptions, the last of which was a killer for a Patriots team trying to get ahead. Instead, Marlon Humphrey picked Jones in the end zone to stop a huge drive for New England.
Waddle behind the defense
With catches of 32 and 45 yards, Jaylen Waddle gave the Dolphins a golden chance to take the lead in the fourth quarter. And Miami did not miss the opportunity. Chase Edmonds’ three-yard score gave his team the lead.
End of INT zone
When trying to avoid a 0-3 start, here’s a tip: don’t throw interceptions in the red zone. Not great from Derek Carr here with the Raiders trying to erase a double-digit deficit.
Baker goes DEEP
It’s been a tough start to the 2022 season for Baker Mayfield, but the former Browns quarterback made a play when his team needed it early in the fourth quarter. Well, actually, it was Laviska Shenault Jr. who did all the work, catching the ball behind the line of scrimmage before throwing a defender, slicing another’s face, then darting down the left side. for a score of 67 yards.
Lamar takes care again
Make those 10 passing touchdowns in less than three games for Lamar Jackson, who’s going to get PAID this offseason if he keeps playing like this. He has to give Devin Duvernay a lot of credit on the final score, as the wide receiver made a nice jump catch in the corner of the end zone.
Herbert breaks free
Khalil Herbert, a 2021 sixth-round pick, went for 100 yards on 19 tries heading into Sunday’s game against the Texans. He’s down to 119 midway through the quarter, many of which came after David Montgomery left the game with an ankle/knee injury. Herbert put Chicago on the edge of the red zone by stopping a 52-yard run, and he was rewarded a few plays later with his second touchdown of the game.
Devonta Smith KITCHEN
The Commanders defense has no answers for second-year rookie Devonta Smith. He has seven receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown… IN THE FIRST HALF! It was ALL the Eagles the first 30 minutes.
FG blocked!
It was ALL the Panthers in the first half. Even when the Saints finally back up a practice and go for a short field goal, it’s stalled. How about Carolina shutting out New Orleans in the first half? Didn’t see that coming.
The off-season acquisition of AJ Brown was great for the Eagles the first two weeks, and so was the first half against Washington. Three receptions, 60 yards and his first touchdown since arriving in Philadelphia.
Lamar to Andrews x2
Defending first-team All-Pro Mark Andrews got off to a great start to 2022. He was brilliant in the first half on Sunday, catching a pair of touchdowns from Lamar Jackson to give the Ravens a mid-half advantage. time.
Mac Jones…rushed score?
Who said Mac Jones couldn’t move (when needed). As the pocket collapsed on second and goal, the sophomore quarterback saw an opening and grabbed it, waltzing into the end zone from three yards out.
TD in first career
The Texans appeared to have gotten a steal in running back Dameon Pierce, a fourth-round rookie from Florida. After a quiet start in the NFL, Pierce rushed for 69 yards last week and already has 66 in Week 3 to go along with his career-first tally.
Eagles Swallowing Wentz
After more than 19 minutes of play, Carson Wentz managed only two assists. The Eagles defense, meanwhile, has knocked down its former quarterback FIVE TIMES. The fifth out, courtesy of Brandon Graham, resulted in a fumble that led to Philadelphia’s first score — a 22-yard throw and catch by Jalen Hurts to Dallas Goedert.
From Burrow to Boyd
As Tyler Boyd caught a pass from Joe Burrow on a routine incline, two Jets defenders collided as the sweet Boyd swung away. From there, Boyd passed the rest of the defense for 56 yards. The Bengals offense finally comes to life in Week 3.
A snag or not a snag?
It was quite a helping hand from Devonta Smith for a 45-yard gain late in the first quarter. But upon closer examination, it didn’t look like Smith had put his left foot down. It didn’t matter, because COs coach Ron Rivera threw the challenge flag too late. Fortunately, the defense bailed out their coach by holding Philadelphia to the basket.
Pick up and score!
For a second, Alvin Kamara was trying to find a way back. The next day, Marquis Hayes was running free the other way after a nice strip of Frankie Luvu. With nothing but green grass ahead of him, Hayes rumbled 44 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring.
Eight in a row!
That’s the number of consecutive games the loaded Buffalo Bills have scored an opening touchdown. Not a great start for the Dolphins, who gave up a 10-play, 75-yard possession that ended with Josh Allen finding Devin Singletary for the two-yard score.
The Titans Strike First
The Titans moved onto the field for an opening touchdown against the Bills on Monday night — then did nothing else in a 41-7 rout. Tennessee hopes that won’t be the case on Sunday after going 12 plays and 75 yards for the score – courtesy of Geoff Swaim.
Moore misses the punt
What a start for the Colts! After a quick three-and-out, Indianapolis received a huge gift when second-round rookie Skyy Moore missed the punt deep in Chiefs territory. Three plays later, Kansas City lost a touchdown after Matt Ryan’s one-yard touchdown pass to third-round rookie Jelani Woods.
One of the weirdest streaks in the NFL
If the Dolphins fall to the Bills on Sunday, fans have the perfect excuse. They won’t have to blame the loss of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was outstanding across two gamesand they won’t have to put up with the phrase “but the Bills are Super Bowl favorites!”
You know why? Because Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen doesn’t have an “o” in his last name. That’s it.
As of the start of the 2021 calendar year, the Dolphins are 0-9 when the opposing starting quarterback doesn’t have an “o” in his last name. Conversely, they’ve won 11 straight against quarterbacks whose last name includes an “o”. This was true for 20 STRAIGHT GAMES. The last time this didn’t happen was week 16 of the 2020 season, when The miraculous completion of Ryan Fitzpatrick helped lift the Dolphins over the Raiders and flagman Derek Carr.
So there you have it, Dolphins fans; it looks like you’ll be 2-1 heading into Week 4. But don’t worry. With the next three games against the Bengals (Joe Burrohw), Jets (potentially still Joe Flaccoh) and Vikings (Kirk Cohusins), the good times should keep rolling in Miami.
