With the elimination of Game 4, the 2021 NFL preseason ends Sunday with the kick off of five games throughout the day. One of the big storylines is the debut of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who will see his first live snaps since tearing his ACL last season. He’s one of the potentially intriguing NFL DFS picks for FanDuel and DraftKings, but will he see enough action to earn value?
Elsewhere in the NFL DFS player pool, Baker Mayfield will start for the Browns as they face a slim defense from the Falcons in the final game of the day. Which quarterbacks should you target for your NFL DFS rosters? And which skill players are most valuable? Before you lock in the NFL’s 2021 pre-season DFS picks for Sunday’s slate, be sure to check out NFL DFS tips, player rankings, stacks, and Scott Engel’s daily top fantasy football picks from SportsLine.

On Monday, Engel had Saints quarterback Jameis Winston as one of his top FanDuel and DraftKings picks. The result: Winston had 9 of 10 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Anyone who had Winston in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

Best Sunday NFL DFS Picks for Week 3
For 2021 NFL Preseason Week 3 on Sunday, Engel is high on 49ers quarterback Trey Lance (each player is $ 6,000 on FanDuel and $ 5,500 on DraftKings). The Niners plan to pitch Jimmy Garoppolo against the Raiders. But coach Kyle Shanahan said he also plans to mix Lance with the starters.
Lance led the Niners through this preseason, going 13 of 28 for 230 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in two games. The Raiders, meanwhile, surrendered 208 passing yards – and 41 rushing yards – to Rams substitute Bryce Perkins last week. Lance has a lot to prove as the 49ers finalize their quarterback plans for this season, making the No.3 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft a great selection for the NFL DFS rosters on Sunday.
Part of Engel’s optimal strategy for the NFL DFS also includes the Patriots roster, running back Rhamondre Stevenson. Oklahoma’s fourth-round pick is enjoying an extremely strong preseason, leading the NFL with 193 rushing yards in two weeks. The second closest fullback is Asim Rose at 151.
Stevenson put up a 10-127-2 line in Week 1 and continued with 66 yards and two scores last week. Sony Michel was traded to the Rams this week, opening the depth picture even further for Stevenson. Expect the Patriots to have another look at him on Sunday, making him a must-have option for everyday fantasy players.
How to set the NFL DFS Sunday rosters for week 3
Engel is also targeting a player who could win massive numbers on Sunday due to an abundance of playing time. That choice could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or coming home with nothing. You can’t see who it is here.
