LB winners
Isaiah Simmons, Clemson. Simmons could not be excluded from this list. He ran a lightning 4.39-second run on 40 yards and also led the group in the long jump. Kenneth Murray of Oklahoma and Patrick Queen of LSU would also be on the winners list if they had not been shortened from the field drills after limping through the 40-yard dash.
CBS Sports analyst Ryan Wilson joined Will Brinson of Indianapolis to break down combine week on the latest Pick Six podcast. Listen below and be sure to subscribe to the daily goodness of the NFL.
Willie Gay Jr., Mississippi State. Gay ran very well and then seemed comfortable in the movement exercises. The Bulldog could mount the board.
Shaun Bradley, Temple. The Owls had a seven stacked front this season. Bradley was fantastic in the field portion of the training sessions after running two very fast 40-yard runs.
Azur Kamara, Kansas. Kamara is a long-time player who ran a quick 40-meter shooting time and then looked flowing in movement exercises. He is a bit gross as a player but there are certain qualities on which the teams could rely.
LB losers
Francis Bernard, Utah. Bernard should not be running so slowly in the 40-yard dash. He is a small line seconder. His professional day will be important for him to change the story.
Michael Divinity, LSU. Divinity cannot afford to carry a 4.85 in the 40-yard dash after all the questions surrounding its circumstances this season. Linebacker Tiger will have to show a better time during his professional day.
Cale Garrett, Missouri. Garrett is on the small side with 234 pounds, but ran a 40-yard dash slower than Iowa attacking attacker Tristan Wirfs; it shouldn’t happen.
David Woodward, State of Utah. Woodward is a smart player who gets out of the blocks very well. However, teams will have a hard time looking past their dash time below 40 yards.
