Premier League stars had fun with their FIFA 23 rankings – but it’s safe to say that not all of them are thrilled!
In fact, Mason Mount was so disgusted with what he thought was his last score that he threw his card in the trash for a second straight year.
The Chelsea ace was devastated to be faced with an 82 rating from himself – which would have meant a big demotion from FIFA 22.
Mount had his head in his hands when confronted with his reduced pace of 69, which would also have made him slower than his friend Declan Rice.
The 23-year-old took a comforting hug from team-mate Ben Chilwell while admitting: “I put it in the trash, my head is gone.”
That’s when Mount received his true FIFA 23 rating of 84, with improvements in his overall ranking, shooting and passing from last year.
But the relieved midfielder still wasn’t completely satisfied, commenting: “It’s still slow.
“They didn’t fake my physical cause, it’s still the same. This (card) is on the verge of being in the trash but it stays there.
Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha was among other Premier League stars unhappy with their new ratings… and unfortunately his weren’t wrong!
The Ivorian was captured by Palace TV during a courtroom video exclaiming: “That’s stupid! That’s why I don’t play FIFA!
Zaha then took to social media once the stats were confirmed, posting a picture of himself receiving a yellow card which had been replaced with his Ultimate Team card.
The Crystal Palace talisman captioned it: “Me seeing my FIFA stats getting worse. He had to play golf all season back then.
Zaha’s 14 Premier League goals in 2021/22 meant he might have reason to complain that he didn’t receive a bigger upgrade.
Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wouldn’t have had so much hope for a high mark after another injury-ravaged season.
Still, it wasn’t the minus two mark he received in the overall standings that bothered him the most – rather it was the loss of the physical battle against Diogo Jota.
“If Jota has a better physique than me or physique, then that brings me home now,” he said before revealing he was indeed lower.
“It means that [77 – two better than his 75 score] it’s Diogo Jota, isn’t it? next came Oxlade-Chamberlain.
“This Portuguese guy we’re talking about. It’s the same, huh?
Manchester City stars have enjoyed the same FIFA 23 rankings as Liverpool with Erling Haaland among the players featured.
And the Norwegian was dismayed to find he was weaker than team-mate Ruben Dias given he won the physical battle with the defender when he was at Borussia Dortmund in a Champions League clash in 2021 .
Elsewhere, it looks like Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is the only Premier League star who actually cares about playing the game.
And the Brazilian wasted no time in endearing himself to the Toon Army online after uploading a video mocking rivals Sunderland.
Guimaraes was playing as his own character in the game and broke a third for Newcastle against the Black Cats in the first half hour.
The 24-year-old is yet to taste a real Tyne-Wear derby experience but is clearly relishing the prospect one day as he was heard chanting ‘BRUNO’ on his TV screen.
Cute moment… the less said about playing Joe Willock in a one-man midfield role, the better!
