Anthony Gordon became the second player in Premier League history to score against all of the Big Six in a single season.

The Newcastle winger scored in the 4-0 demolition of Tottenham at St James’ Park in Saturday’s kick-off.

Gordon doubled the Magpies’ lead in the 32nd minute after slotting past Micky van de Ven before slotting past Guglielmo Vicario from close range.

It was his tenth top-flight goal this season, with the 23-year-old now finding the back of the net against Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United and City.

In doing so, he became the first person – and second overall – to achieve the feat since Jamie Vardy’s exploits for Leicester during the 2017/18 campaign.

The former Everton striker, who also contributed with two assists against Tottenham, scored the winner in the 1-0 wins over Arsenal and United.

He also found himself on the scoresheet in the 4-1 win over Chelsea and in defeats to Liverpool and City.

Gordon can consider himself unlucky not to have received the man of the match trophy after manhandling Ange Postecoglou’s team.

He provided the opening assist to Alexander Isak, before his late corner was headed in by Fabian Schar.

The rout leaves Newcastle sixth in the table to keep their European dreams alive.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the win, Gordon said: “We knew we couldn’t play normally against this team because they are so good on the ball.

“So we changed tactically, we went man for man, and the game plan the manager gave us was exceptional.”

Reflecting on the timing of the goal which came just two minutes after Isak’s opening goal, he said: “I think, especially here at St James’, with the crowd, if we can score back-to-back, close enough, then we can feel like the stadium is suffocating you.

“Believe me, I’ve been here as an away player and that’s really how I feel.

“It came at a crucial moment and from then on I felt like we were in control of the game.”
