Kieron Dyer says he’s got ‘bored’ watching Newcastle play for the past FIVE years.
Magpies boss Steve Bruce has come under fire for his perceived lackluster style of play since taking office last year.
Dyer, who made 251 appearances for Newcastle between 1999 and 2007, wants his former club to be at the forefront of games.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Wolves, he told Sky Sports: “Steve Bruce did a good job and Rafa [Benitez] did a good job before that.
“But I miss watching Newcastle, they bore me. It is as if they are reducing the results.
“Newcastle were the hosts. Now when you look at this team, surely there are goals in this team.
“They will have to try, be at the forefront. That’s what I as a former Newcastle player, someone who watches over their results, wants to see, entertaining Newcastle.
“It could turn out badly, but let’s try to score some goals, blow for blow and get back to the excitement.
“Like I said, Newcastle have been boring to watch the past five years as a fan.”
Of the Premier League clubs that avoided relegation last season, only Crystal Palace (31) scored fewer goals than Newcastle (38).
