With the release of new Silicon Macs and Apple moving away from Intel Macs, as well as more and more employees working from home every day where Skype is an important form of communication, big changes are coming.
Petri reported that Microsoft folks are developing and testing a brand new version of the Skype app for Silicon Macs. It will add native support to Skype on macOS.
Microsoft has published a blog post on the Skype Blog stating that the updated version of the app will run three times faster on Mac M1 and M2.

Last month, Apple launched new Macs, including the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and the Mac Mini, which feature the new M2 chip.
The Insider Edition of this new version of Skype macOS app can be downloaded from its website. At this time, no date has been set for the update to be available to all users.
