Sony and Jetpack Interactive are now apparently working on a game of live services for a “prized” Sony IP. This development was revealed by a Sept. 15 post on Jetpack’s LinkedIn page, as well as new job openings posted on the company’s website.
Jetpack Interactive is the studio responsible for the successful PC port of Sony Santa Monica’s 2018 God of War title. Michael Kiernan, Senior Developer at Jetpack said:
Hey for anyone who would like a small studio experience while working on AAA games, we’ve been helping Sony with their God of War games and they love us so much we’re taking on another completely different project.
The result? According to Jetpack’s hiring post on LinkedIn, Sony is asking them to develop a new “live services” game:
Moreover, this title of “live services” will belong to one of Sony’s flagship IPs. The “About Jetpack Interactive” section of the new job postings on the Jetpack website reads as follows:
We are now working directly with Sony to develop one of their flagship IPs within their highly anticipated live service gaming portfolio. If you’re excited to be part of a small, skilled SWAT team making some of the best AAA games, we’re sure you’ll love working at Jetpack.
Come work alongside our team of experienced game developers and be proud to be part of a select team working on a popular IP; We value mutual respect, trust and shared knowledge based on years of experience and collaboration. We are a team with a real passion for game development.
The Network Engineer and Rendering Engineer lists reveal more interesting information. Lists require experience with Unreal Engine 4/5, as well as PC and/or console development and network engineering.
This essentially confirms that Sony has a PC version in mind for this Unreal-based game, at least somewhere down the line.
