Patricia will take on Fran Kelly’s role as host for RN Breakfast after the incumbent announcer announced she would step down after 17 years.
Karvelas previously worked for the Australian newspaper for 13 years before joining the public broadcaster in 2015 to host RN’s Drive program.
She said she was “honored” and “humbled by this opportunity that Radio National gives me”.
Kelly’s last show will be on Thursday. Karvelas will take over next year.
