SINGAPORE, February 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — SkyMiles, Delta Air Lines’ loyalty program, is the most valuable airline loyalty program in the world, according to On Point Loyalty Top 100 most valuable airline loyalty programs in 2023 report. With an estimated value of over $27 billion, SkyMiles sets record in On Point Loyalty ranking. American Airlines’ AAdvantage comes in second place with more than $23 billionUnited Airlines MileagePlus tracking at over $22 billion.
Once the airline industry’s best-kept secret, frequent flyer programs are irreversibly at the center of the global airline economy during the COVID pandemic, with many airlines banking on their programs to survive. Record funding structures relied on the profitability and consistency of revenue from airline loyalty programs.
According to Evert de BoerManaging Partner at On Point Loyalty, “the financial support achieved through these programs has further reinforced our prior assumptions about the value they represent. The valuations we published in early 2020 have been corroborated by a number of market transactions over the past few years. With COVID largely behind us, now is the time to take stock and reassess program valuations.”
On Point Loyalty’s research once again examined public information on more than 170 airlines worldwide, supplemented with proprietary information to determine an estimated value for each airline’s loyalty program. Over 50 variables relating to airline, loyalty program and country of operation have been incorporated into On Point Loyalty’s proprietary scoring algorithm.
