Recently, Samsung released the One UI 6 Beta 3 update for the Galaxy S23 in select countries. After making its way to Germany and the US, the One UI 6 update has landed in India. The update brings several new features to the Galaxy S23. However, there is a new feature that few people have noticed.
In the latest One UI 6 Beta 3 update, users have more control over which apps they want to update alongside installing the latest Android updates. In previous versions of One UI, Samsung would simply update all the system apps on your phone, and there was nothing you could do about it. Even if you knew a newer version of an app had bugs, you had no way to prevent updates. Thanks to One UI 6’s new user control feature, Galaxy owners can now choose which system app will be updated when installing the new Android version.
This One UI 6 option speeds up the operating system update process
According to one report, there is a small section in the Software Update section that says: “Some applications may be updated with this software update.” Under this section, you will see the link “Choose apps to update”, clicking on which redirects you to a new screen. Here you can select which app will be updated with the system update. Simply check the boxes next to the apps you want to update. Any apps not chosen must be updated manually.
Note that since these apps will be available on both the Google Play Store and the Galaxy Store, which have the ability to auto-update apps, apps can still be auto-updated based on the settings you choose in these respective app stores. But this subtle feature will definitely help improve the Android OS update process as app updates can also be done later.
