Samsung looks set to release a phenomenal new smartphone with a new “holy grail” feature, but will it fill any other gaps?
Prolific leaker, @FrontTron, revealed what the final camera specs might be for the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Unfortunately, with the exception of one important feature, they don’t look particularly impressive.
According to the leak, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will come with a set of three rear cameras as well as two front-facing lenses. However, these specs don’t seem to offer any upgrades to the previous Galaxy Z Fold 2, suggesting nearly identical camera hardware.
With three relatively small 12-megapixel sensors and a maximum 2x optical telephoto lens, the rear camera of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 lags far behind current flagships, including Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, which has a 108 main camera. megapixel and optical telephoto lens up to 10x. And, if the Galaxy Z Fold 2 price is right, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will likely cost a lot more.
Where the Galaxy Z Fold 3 should impress is in its front camera setup. This is set to become one of the first available with an invisible sub-screen lens, offering a huge uninterrupted display area without notches or perforations.
Such cameras are notoriously difficult to produce without substantial compromise, so all eyes are on Samsung to get this one right.
Everything will be revealed later this year.
