Apple’s iPhone 13 lineup has a new design and an accelerated release date. Now, a new exclusive has revealed what many believe will be its biggest upgrade.
Following its recent iPhone 13 production revelations, Digitimes says Apple’s new line of smartphones will be up to 20% more power efficient than iPhone 12 models – a massive upgrade. And the site also reveals the main reason for this energy saving: new generation screens.
Digitimes states that Apple partners Samsung Display and LG Display are currently converting their iPhone production lines from LTPS OLED, used in the iPhone 12 line, to LTPO OLED. This “ended in the first half of 2021”, explains the source of Digitimes. LTPO OLED displays have been the subject of rumors for some time, but this is the first time we’ve heard of just how much power saving they will help bring.
And that’s a double win for iPhone fans. First, the iPhone 12 models actually have lower battery life than their predecessors after Apple joked them with smaller batteries than the iPhone 11 line. Second, LTPO allows for a refresh rate. variable between 1Hz and 120Hz so that iPhone users can finally enjoy the high refresh rates that have proven popular on Android devices over the past few years – but without the excessive battery drain that it does. had caused. Apple is expected to market this high refresh rate as “ ProMotion, ” something it introduced on the iPad Pros several years ago although they still use LCD panels. .
And there are other reasons to be excited about the battery life of the iPhone 13 line. Along with the LTPO displays, they will feature more efficient next-generation 5G modems and the company’s A15 chip, which will provide increased performance and reduced energy consumption.
It’s not just a matter of efficiency, the iPhone 13 leaks also revealed Apple’s plans to reduce the notch (finally!), Increase WiFi speed and range, revise the experience of the camera and introduce an improved version of MagSafe.
Combine all of this with the aforementioned earlier release date and a good year for Apple should turn into a great one. But they need to fix a serious problem first.
