Netflix announced the renewal of My next guest needs no introduction with David Letterman for a fifth season.

The upcoming season will feature two episodes featuring interviews with pop music icon Miley Cyrus and basketball legend Charles Barkley.

A trailer for the new season hints at Cyrus discussing her early career, referencing her time on the Disney Channel. Hannah Montana among other strong points.

‘Hannah Montana’ Pilot Shot With Another Girl

In the trailer, Cyrus shared that Disney filmed a pilot episode with “another girl” that initially didn’t resonate well with a focus group, adding, “They didn’t have no relations with her. I love them for that.”

Since her acting debut, she has become a music icon with eight studio albums including hits like Bangerz And Plastic hearts.

His latest work includes the album Endless summer vacation and a contribution to Beyoncé’s 2024 album Cowboy Carter.

Meanwhile, Barkley was coaching Letterman’s golf.

Basketball legend Barkley also appears in the trailer for the upcoming season of My next guest needs no introduction with David Letterman.

Known for his impressive career with teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets, Barkley shares a moment of levity with Letterman in the trailer as he teaches him the golf stance.

Since his retirement in 2000, he has been a respected basketball analyst on TNT and competed in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics with the U.S. national team.

Letterman’s show continues tradition of hosting influential people

My next guest has a history of hosting influential figures such as former US President Barack Obama, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, rapper Jay-Z, activist Malala Yousafzai and singer Billie Eilish.

The series has earned Emmy nominations for every season since its premiere in 2018.

The series is produced by Jax Media and Worldwide Pants, Inc., with Tom Keaney and Mary Barclay of Worldwide Pants, Jake Fuller of Jax Media, Justin Wilkes, Séamus Murphy-Mitchell and Michael Steed serving as executive producers.
