Background: I have a Mac Os system that I purchased in 2013. Now I’m getting to where it’s not supported for OS upgrades. It consists of a 27″ 3.5 GHz Intel Core I7 iMac with 32 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD. The graphics card is an Nvidia Geforce GTX 775M. I also have a matching 27″ Apple monitor . The system is mounted on the wall in front of my office. I’m still using the 32-bit Adobe suite of products. I use the system for making presentations, videos and MS Office for work. I paid good money for the system in 2013 and it lasted me almost 10 years which has been great.
I was thinking of upgrading to a newer 27″ iMac but unfortunately they stopped doing the setup. I really need a 2 monitor system (or a very large one) to replace the iMac and monitor with. So studying kinda i see that Apple is now using over there on the M1 and M2 chips. The system must have 64GB or more of memory and at least a 2TB SSD hard drive.I really don’t play games games on my desktop so a good graphics card is all I need Studio on the Apple site I also located a mid 2020 5K iMac and I’m not sure what monitor to match to get. iMac has an I9 processor and a 2TB SSD. Hence my question, should I go for an M1 because Apple may stop supporting the Intel processor sooner?
I’m not sure exactly how Apple will support their systems in the future, but I’d appreciate members’ thoughts on this replacement system I’m purchasing.
