NBA sets regular season attendance records for 2023-24 – The Athletic

The NBA saw record attendance numbers for regular season games this season. The records include all-time records for total and average attendance, percentage of teams at sold-out capacity and sold-out seats.

This is the second year in a row that the NBA has set new records in these categories. It drew about 304,000 more fans to its arenas this season than last (22,538,518 total) and averaged 18,324 per game. There were 873 sellouts leaguewide, the NBA said, 82 more than last season.

Seventy-one percent of games were sold out and 12 teams sold out every one of their actual home games (Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers , Phoenix Suns). , Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz).

The league sent a post-publication clarification Monday to make some minor changes to attendance figures and sales information.

The league also released viewer data regarding its social and digital media consumption.

It was found that LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Victor Wembanyama and Luka Dončić were, by far, the most viewed players on these platforms, and the only ones to exceed one billion views in total.

The most-watched play this season on the NBA’s social and digital media platforms was a Dončić steal that led to a pass to Kyrie Irving and an alley-oop dunk by Derrick Jones Jr. That highlight, said the NBA, has had 250 million views since he performed March 21 against the Utah Jazz.
