NBA rumours: Miami Heat could move Montrezl Harrell – Reuters

The Miami Heat are a franchise that likes its players to be tough and brave. This has often helped them build contending teams around the stars they attract, with the Heat failing to make the NBA Finals this season, for example. And the summer has already cost them one of their key players, with PJ Tucker opting to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason.

The Heat have been linked with several acquisitions and trades, but one name that’s now coming up for the second time this offseason is Montrezl Harrell. Trez is an undersized but serviceable center as a substitute, and someone who can score points and play hard as a substitute big man.

And an NBA executive told Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney that the Heat are the team to watch when it comes to acquiring Montrezl. The 28-year-old has good NBA experience, which makes him a no-brainer, but it depends on whether he can clear the pending drug felony case against him.

“Miami would be a team to watch. Especially if they make a big move and have a lot of holes in the roster that need to be filled on the cheap at the end of the summer,” the exec said. “They need another big guy anyway. He could be sitting there. Depends on whether the case goes away or what.”

The Heat potentially have bigger fish to fry, they have been mentioned as suitors in Kevin Durant as well as Donovan Mitchell. Getting either of these stars could force them to drop a lot of quality players, meaning players like Harrell would be the way to go to fill out the roster. Harrell has averaged nearly 13 points per game in his career, if everything else is par, he could be a good addition for the Heat.
