The NBA offseason doesn’t really kick off until the first Lakers rumors or the jersey swap are visible in the wild. And while the offseason hasn’t started yet, we already have plenty of both. On Monday, the last link to the team came in the form of quotes courtesy of DeMar DeRozan during his appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast.
Notable tidbits included DeRozan discussing his free agency plans. The veteran goalkeeper and Los Angeles native detailed the importance of winning, as well as the “great opportunity” it would be to potentially play for his home Lakers club.
DeRozan’s comments sent much of the fan base in a daze, given they came on the heels of a report by Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times that said the unrestricted free agent would be willing to even take a pay cut to play for the Lakers. While the logistics of the cap on what actually happens ultimately depends on what DeRozan is willing to sacrifice, the adjustment on the pitch is already provoking debate. Which brings us to today’s episode.
In this week’s edition of “Talk-O Tuesday” – a podcast from Silver Screen and Roll – our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla discussed recent developments at DeRozan, as well as other rumors surrounding the team, including a potential Buddy Hield for the Kyle Kuzma trade and the last on Russell Westbrook. What moves would the Alexs want to happen the most? To discover in the show.
