The Washington Wizards have added another guard to their roster, Liberty University’s Caleb Homesley. Homesley signed a 10 room contract with Washington which is a one year contract for the league minimum.
Homesley, in his senior year, was twice at the Atlantic Sun First Team Conference as well as the 2020 Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year, including tournament MVP. He averages 15.3 points per game and 5.7 rebounds as a senior. Concluding his career at the University of Liberty, Homesley was ranked 10th on their all-time scorers list with 1,539 points and eighth all-time in rebound with 703 rebounds.
The Wizards currently have nine guards on their roster: John Wall, Bradley Beal, Ish Smith, Jerome Robinson, Shabazz Napier, Raul Neto, Garrison Matthews, Cassius Winston and Gary Payton II. With the tension already mounting between the front office and Wall, there is no certainty where Washington intends to go.
With all of these guards, I guess wizards are just safe and happy at the same time. Homesley has solid potential, but let’s hope it doesn’t go to waste with a franchise that seems to be exploding … in a bad way.
