Stephen Curry further elevated his status as one of this game’s all-time greats by winning his 4th championship and 1st Finals MVP in 2022. He was nothing short of sensational on the sport’s biggest stage and made the object of praise throughout the offseason. Shaquille O’Neal excited him again recently, calling Curry the best player in the world right now.
His exploits last season actually led many to claim that Curry is now one of the top 10 players of all time, and the Warriors guard is certainly in the conversation at this point. With a lot of debate this offseason surrounding this topic of the greatest players of all time, Hoop Central posed the question on Twitter what roster you’d take from a group of some of the best players this game has ever seen.
NBA Twitter was pretty split on the subject as cases were made for both teams.
“Who’s stopping the curry, the mj and the KD? Not to mention the shaq”
“The second. He has 3 top players in their peer positions (Magic, LeBron and Hakeem).”
“Curry, Jordan and KD together is crazy. Plus Shaq hogging the glass is an easy answer. Oh, that Tim Duncan guy is pretty good too.”
“the bottom is so easily better”
“Kobe and Shaq 3peated. MJ is a better version of Kobe. Steph and KD won 2 of 3 together and went 73-9. Duncan did nothing but win. MJ 3 peated twice. Why is that even a question?”
“Bottom list: everyone is still sleeping on Hakeem.”
“Hell great games but Steph, Jordan, KD, Timmy and Shaq!? Come on now. I’ll put the mortgage on that”
“Bottom. Bron is definitely on curry, Kobe and MJ are the same, Dream on Shaq, Dirk and Tim are the same and Magic on KD. Bottom all day”
“Lol duncan and shaq in the paint more MJ DURANT CURRY sheeesh easy top”
“The bottom team overall have better ground spacing compared to the top team. So I’m going with the bottom team”
“Tough choice but the best team has too much firepower and attacking threats”
“I feel like Steph Mj and Shaq are too much to handle but my heart tells me to trust Kobe & Bron”
“Top easily the pick and rolls would get dirty”
“Hakeem X Kobe = Unstoppable. Game over”
“Better team. Better spacing and more play off the ball.”
“Curious how Shaq and Duncan would space the floor? I don’t know if that matters too much but I think the top has the most talent, the bottom is better”
“Curry, MJ, KD Tim, Shaq all day. Not a defense that exists to stop this”
“The bottom is so balanced and well rounded that I would opt for them for sure”
“Top. Curry and Durant space the floor and no answer for Shaq”
“Shaq and Curry are already unstoppable. Biggest perimeter and biggest post threat in basketball history”
It’s definitely an intriguing battle of matchups and it could really go both ways, as you’d expect when the best players face off. Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, Shaq and Curry might end up being too much to overcome, however, because you’re watching some of the game’s top scorers and a combination of those four can hurt you in so many different ways. .
