To help support the next generation, Deutsche Telekom has announced its partnership with seven-time Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish to support Project Futureproof. The project kicks off today (May 19) with a short film created by Saatchi & Saatchi, London and directed by Rollo Jackson, giving Gen Z a glimpse into the future, soundtracked by Eilish’s My Future.
Gen Z and job skills and employability experts developed the campaign, which was endorsed by Eilish. Young people will have access to a support platform to guide them in their future careers and learn new skills. Eilish previously partnered with Deutsche Telekom last year to shine a light on the power and potential when young people are connected to technology.
“The future looks uncertain,” Billie Eilish said. “But I’m still inspired by what our generation is able to achieve in the face of so many different challenges.”
Project Futureproof is using an open-access digital tool so that Gen Z can understand their skills and future career paths available following the changing social and economic landscape due to the pandemic. Using RIASEC, a professional personality modeling, it allows the user to be connected to potential career paths for the future using the information about their passions, skills, talents and personality.
The project also enables users to learn how to write CVs, prepare for job interviews and improve their social media profiles with the help of Deutsche Telekom experts. The company also offers work-study and apprenticeship programs, career and employability resources, youth rates and localized initiatives.
This is a particularly important platform following research results published by Deutsche Telekom today which showed that 61% of UK and European Gen Zers are worried about their future jobs and career prospects, 54% do not know what careers will exist in the future and 43% say they do not know if they have the qualities necessary to succeed.
On the news, Brand Director, Deutsche Telekom, Ulrich Klenke said, “Gen Z is entering a world of work that will have been fundamentally changed by both the COVID-19 pandemic and digital transformation. We believe it is our collective responsibility to help them seize the opportunities and challenges they face. We want to show them that if they have a passion, they have a future.
