Hello everyone, but especially to…
THE MARRONS OF CLEVELAND
If the Cleveland Browns want to stay in the AFC playoff picture until Deshaun Watson comebacks, they’re going to have to use the same formula they used in their 29-17 win over the Steelers Thursday: a dominant ground game, a strong quarterbacking performance and a terrific defensive effort.
- Nick Chubb had 23 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown. It was his 24th 100-yard rushing game since the start of 2018, most in the NFL, and Cleveland finished with 171 rushing yards as a team.
- amari cooper and David Njoku combined for 16 receptions, 190 yards and two touchdowns. Jacoby Brisset went to them quite often as part of a passing performance of 220 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
- In Chubb and Cooper, the Browns had a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver in the same game for the first time since 1986.
- The Browns Defense scored more points in the second half (six on a fumble recovered by Neighborhood Denzel in the end zone on the last play of the game) that he allowed (Three).
- Despite the struggles of his offense, Steelers the head coach mike tomlin said he sticks to Mitchell Trubisky more Kenny Pickett.
Chubb is one of the NFL’s most understated and under-recognized stars, but his game has spoken a lot. He averages 4.9 total yards per carry and an absurd 5.0 yards after the first contact. When you have a less than ideal quarterback situation, the ability to turn potentially negative plays into short wins and short potential wins into medium or long wins is a huge boost.

Brissett didn’t have to force a ton on the court, and he was very accurate on the short and middle game. Add to that that defense and Cleveland is riding high after a key division victory.

Celtics suspend Ime Udoka for the season; more details emerge regarding the relationship with the staff member
The Boston Celtics having suspended the head coach Ime Udoka for the entire 2022-23 season and will make a decision regarding his future with the team at a later date. Udoka allegedly violated the organization’s guidelines by having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
- According to reports, the Celtics originally thought the relationship was consensual. However, the woman recently accused Udoka of “making unwanted comments about her”, which prompted the organization’s investigation.
- Udoka led the Celtics to an NBA Finals appearance last season, his first as an NBA head coach.
- The Celtics (+550) are currently the favorites to win the NBA titlejust in front of the Warriors (+600), which beat Boston in the final.
- Joe Mazzulla will be promoted to interim head coach. Mazzulla joined the Celtics in 2019; prior to that, he was the Division II head coach Fairmont State. He interviewed for the Jazz opening of the head coach – which eventually went to Will Hardyanother Boston assistant – in the offseason.
Udoka released the following statement:
- Udoka: “I want to apologize to our players, our fans, the entire Celtics organization and my family for letting them down. I’m sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation and I accept the team’s decision. Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment.”
The Pistons are well in their reconstruction. The Jazz are tearing things down. This difference was visible on Thursday, when Utah sent Bojan Bogdanovic in Detroit for Kelly Olynik and keep Saben Lee.
Notably, there are no draft picks that change handsdoing this a huge victory for the Pistonswrites NBA guru James Herbert.
- Herbert: “Commercial grade pistons: A+ — He will give Cade Cunningham more room to function when they are on the pitch together and help the team stay functional when Cunningham is on the bench. The veteran could serve as a model in a way for Sadiq Bey, and the two attackers will complement each other. It is not clear if Jaden Ivey will start right away, but a Cunningham-Ivey-Bey-Bogdanovic quartet would give Dwane CaseyThe coaching staff has an interesting look: dynamic in attack, switchable in defence.”
James gave a noticeably less impressive rating at Utah, which has the fifth-shortest odds to have the worst NBA record at Caesars Sportsbook.
USA leads the Presidents Cup 4-1 after day one 🏌
The United States made their advantage on paper felt on the course early and often on the first day of the Presidents Cup, emerging with a 4-1 lead after the foursomes session.
- Patrick Canlay and Xander Schauele set the tone with an utterly dominant 6&5 win Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama in the first game.
- Collin Morikawa and Cameron Young, as good as Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, also won to lead 3-0.
- If Woo Kim and Cam Davis saved a point for the international team with a spectacular late comeback on Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns. Two down with four to go, Kim and Davis won each of the last four holes.
- Any momentum for the international team evaporated when Tony Finau and Max Homa won the 18th hole Taylor Pendrith and Mito Pereira to win 1-up.
It’s basically what we expected, writes golf scribe Kyle Porter.
- Carry: “The verbiage between the two captains after the games was telling. Trevor Immelmanheads held high but eyes belied his confidence, saying the international team was going to keep fighting because that’s all they know how to do. Davis Love III saying he was anxious about who in the world he should sit over the next few days. The story of two captains and the teams at their disposal.”
Here are the chords and tee times for today’s four-ball session, and here’s how you can watch the action.
Who can overcome his 0-2 start? This is what the story says 🏈
Starting 0-2 isn’t necessarily a death knell, but it’s certainly not ideal. Since 1990, only 30 of 265 teams (11.3%) have started 0-2 made the playoffsand only four have made the Super Bowl:
- 1993 Cowboys (won)
- 1996 patriots (lost)
- 2001 patriots (won)
- 2007 giants (won)
Our NFL expert Bryan DeArdo made a fascinating deep dive on these four teamsand Jeff Kerr examined which of the five teams currently 0-2 – the Bengals, Titans, Raiders, Panthers and Falcons — still have a chance to turn the tide.
- Kerr: “Titans – Last year’s No. 1 seed in the AFC looks like a shell of themselves. Derrick Henry went five straight games without 100 yards rushing (longest streak since 2019) and five straight games below four yards per rush (longest streak since 2017-18) … Tennessee only has one chance because that he is in the AFC South, the worst division in football. The Titans have a game to win against the Raiders before facing the Foals in two of their next three games.”
Aaron Judge watches: Slugger narrowly misses No. 61 ⚾
For a moment it seemed Judge Aaron had done it. The No. 61 home run was going to be against the Red Sox, tying Roger Maris‘ Record AL, and against the same franchise Maris had done, no less. But his practice late in the ninth round was just short, and the No. 61 will have to wait.
- The judge went 0 for 2 with three walks. The fly out of the ninth inning took place 404 feet and would have been a home run in 13 of 30 MLB stadiums. The camera angle fooled everyone.
- The Yankees still went home happy afterwards Josh Donaldsonthe single clear round of in the 10th inning scored Marwin Gonzalez for a 5-4 victory.
Apple TV+ will be the only streaming option for tonight’s gameso make sure you know how to look.
