Those days may soon be over for “Quik,” whether he likes it or not. He’s 5-2 in the UFC and has shown flashes of genius, but when asked where he sees himself today, he humbly replies, “A work in progress.”
It’s the attitude any newcomer needs, and Jackson has everything to point in the right direction. Add to that a victory at Madison Square Garden this weekend, and many more people might ask to interrupt his dinner party for a selfie or an autograph. But things like that aren’t front and center in his world.

“I put a lot of pressure on myself already,” he said of the fights at MSG. “I don’t want to wear this. I just want to go out there, do what I do best and come out the other side safe and sound.
“I’m my biggest critic,” Jackson continues. “I don’t want to be pessimistic, but if you want to be great, you have to be careful of everything.”
He’s done very well so far, so he’s not going to allow himself to bask even a little in the moment?
“I don’t even think about it now,” Jackson said. “I’ll think about it when it’s done.”
