Molly McCann received the biggest pop of the night so far out of the thousands in attendance at UFC London in the O2 Arena, and rightly so.
‘Meatball’ came out early but his opponent ate his punches well and tried to fight back with punches of his own, although that didn’t deter the scouser who continued to pick up the pace.
Goldy quickly gave up her strike and tried to grapple but was forced to call by McCann who fired a wicked elbow to cause a split before returning to work with her strikes.
The former Cage Warriors champion pinned her opponent against the wall of the Octagon and unleashed a series of shots that seemingly ended the fight as Goldy limply fell to the floor.
McCann was forced to let a few more ground strikes pass before veteran referee Herb Dean stepped in to call off the fight and spark wild celebrations from the London crowd.
The 32-year-old took to her post-fight interview with Michael Bisping to thank fans for supporting women’s MMA before launching into a chant of “f*** the Tories.”
McCann has now won three in a row and can look forward to a big fight after becoming a fan favorite due to her never say die attitude and charismatic personality.
Goldy drops to 2-2 in the UFC after suffering the first stoppage loss of his nine-fight MMA career.
