Moldy Audi 200 gets first wash in 15 years and looks great afterwards

The Audi 200 is a sleek sedan from the late ’80s and very early ’90s. The one in this video starts out shabby but gets a deep clean that brings the car back to life.

First thing is first with this Audi. There is foam growing on the body, so the clip starts with a thorough cleaning with soap and water. This work goes a long way in rejuvenating the look of the car, but this clip doesn’t stop there.

The original owner supplied a set of wheels with a V-shaped spoke pattern, rather than the stock design. The team details them individually and highlights them. Even the spare tire attracts attention.

The Audi’s interior isn’t much better than the exterior. Floor mats pull out for shampooing, power washing and vacuuming. With the seats removed there is full access to clean the dark blue carpet. It comes out very well. The steam helps to make the steering wheel look like new.

Despite the musty exterior, this car is still mechanically sound. At the end of the video, the engine barks to life and then settles down to idle. Dashboard gauges still work too. It has a five-speed manual transmission swap, which might make the car more interesting to drive once these guys make the 200 fully roadworthy again.

The Audi 200 was the brand’s top-of-the-line product in the United States before the arrival of the V8 sedan. Buyers could get them as a four- or five-door wagon. They were available with versions of Audi’s venerable straight-five engine. In short, the 20-valve variant of the turbocharged mill was available, producing an impressive 217 horsepower (162 kilowatts).

In the United States, the Audi 100 was the successor. After that, the Four Rings introduced their modern model nomenclature with names such as A4, A6, and A8.
