MMA legend Conor McGregor appears to be getting closer to his long-awaited comeback and has returned to full contact fighting.
The former two-weight UFC champion has been out of action since fracturing his tibia and fibula at UFC 264 in July 2021 and is not expected to return to the Octagon until the year next.
One of McGregor’s management team recently revealed that the Irishman’s leg isn’t fully healed but should be close to 100 per cent based on his recent social media uploads social.
On Sunday, the 34-year-old released several videos of him working out at Straight Blast Gym in Dublin, as his longtime trainer John Kavanagh watched.
‘Notorious’ looked as sharp as ever in the workout.
The UFC superstar defended takedowns, landed big punches, ate big punches and even scored with a headbutt as well as a flying knee in all three practice clips.
McGregor captioned one of his posts: “Live from the s*** hot factory.”
Lately, his focus has shifted away from MMA as he focused on his acting debut which is set to arrive in Amazon’s reimagining of the 1980s classic Road House.
McGregor has been in the Dominican Republic for most of this month, filming the movie with Jake Gyllenhaal who will play a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys truck stop but finds out soon that all is not what it is. seems.
Although it is currently unknown who will be playing “Mystic Mac” in his acting debut, it has been confirmed that it will be an original character and that the charismatic Irishman will not be playing himself.
McGregor, who recently distanced himself from rumors of a rematch with boxing icon Floyd Mayweather, appears determined to get his UFC career back on track in 2023.
The former featherweight and lightweight king has picked up just one win since 2016 and is now set to move up to the welterweight division after putting on serious bulk during his time away from fighting.
In his comeback bout, McGregor hopes to compete for the 170-pound title currently held by Leon Edwards.
However, that seems unlikely considering ‘Rocky’ is set to defend the belt against Kamaru Usman in the first quarter of next year and McGregor is unseeded in the division.
