There are certainly some famous family football connections in Watford’s Under-23 team.
The Hornets youth had Dennis Bergkamp’s sons Mauricio Pochettino and Dennis Wise on their squad for the Professional Development League clash with Charlton on Thursday.
Bergkamp Sr, who has scored 122 goals in 425 appearances for the Gunners in an 11-year span from 1995, is one of Arsenal’s greatest players.
The film, the pivot and the Dutchman’s end at Newcastle in March 2002 is rightly considered one of the Premier League’s greatest goals – and nineteen years later we haven’t seen anything like it yet. .
His son, Mitchel, and Pochettino’s boy, Maurizio, started the match which ended 1-1.
Watford’s goal was actually scored by Mitchel, the attacking midfielder producing a neat finish as he clung to Max Staham’s ball.
The game also saw Watford center-back Dom Hutchinson receiving a red card.
Mitchel has been on Watford’s books since February, joining a free transfer. The 22-year-old has joined him after being released from Dutch club Almere City last summer.
