Google is constantly working to improve its apps.
And two big changes that are currently in development have been revealed ahead of release.
They were spotted by tech blog 9to5Google and reveal handy free upgrades that will be available on millions of Android phones.
The first is called Android App Archiving, and it will help you free up storage space on your phone.
It will allow you to archive apps that you don’t use very often.
This removes the app from your phone, freeing up potentially significant space.
But it’s different from deleting an app because your personal data won’t be erased.
This means that you can optionally tap Restore on an app, and it will come back with all of your personal information intact.
The Restore button will replace the Install button for an archived app.
You won’t need to log back into your account when you restore the app, and it should look like it did before you deleted it.
The second change is smaller but still practical.
Google adds a download progress bubble that appears on your screen while you get an app.
So if you browse other apps on the store, you can easily see how your current download is going.

It’s unclear when exactly these two changes will roll out to everyone, but it will likely be very soon.
Check back regularly on your Play Store for the latest updates.
