Millie Mackintosh shares snaps taken before and after welcoming daughter Aurelia, 2 months, as she talks about her C-section experience
Millie Mackintosh has opened up about her C-section experience, saying she feels “really lucky” that she hasn’t had any major issues since welcoming daughter Aurelia.
The former Made In Chelsea star, 32, shared before and after photos of herself welcoming the baby in November.
The influencer, who is also mother to 20-month-old Sienna, with husband Hugo Taylor, shared how she decided to turn her placenta into pills and listened to her midwife who told her to ‘slow down’ and not don’t “overdo it”.

Millie wrote: ‘While I was pregnant I got so many mixed messages about the experiences of the second c-section but for me luckily I found the recovery much easier the second time around it was less emotional and physical shock.
“This time my body knew what to expect and I was mentally prepared!” Don’t get me wrong, it was painful to move around for the first few weeks, but manageable with pain relief.
‘I decided to turn my placenta into pills and although I had teary moments I felt much more emotionally stable and energized than after having Sienna, I actually had to listen to my midwife when she told me to slow down and not over do this!
“When they removed my catheter the morning after my cesarean, I was given two hours to urinate and I just couldn’t!”

“I was really stressed about it, but apparently it’s completely normal, especially the second time you’ve had abdominal surgery.
“I had to put the catheter back in for another 24 hours which meant I was hanging around with my pee bag every time I got out of bed!” Luckily the next day my bladder function was back to normal and I was able to go home.
Millie said the first few weeks after a C-section were ‘very difficult’ and encouraged other mums to talk about how they felt.
She wrote: ‘I feel really lucky that I didn’t have any further issues after the birth. My obstetrician used a pico dressing again which I had great results with last time, my scar is healing well and I try to remember to massage it daily.

“I saw a women’s physiotherapist who did all my internal checks to make sure everything was okay and I really recommend all new moms do this before trying to exercise or lift. heavy objects.”
“I know this may not reflect your experience, these first few weeks are very difficult, but please know that it gets easier.”
‘Keep talking about how you feel and accept ALL offers of help! Take time to rest, your body needs to heal and don’t rush to do too much too soon.
‘Picture 1 was an hour before I gave birth, the second is the next day. Always in awe of what the female body is capable of!
