Pop star Miley Cyrus said last year saw her find pleasure in the “little things” that she previously would have taken for granted.
The American singer, 28, said she relished the chance to sit down with her family and do things she missed during the coronavirus pandemic.
She said: “The last year has brought new pleasures to me because I really started to take pleasure in the little things, the little things that I would have taken for granted before a year ago that none of them. we could not have expected, having lockdowns, social distancing or isolation.
“I forgot how honored it is to sit down with my family and have dinner with them. And when my dad wants to say grace to us, all holding hands and not thinking twice. This is something that before I would have rolled my eyes and, should we do it? Can’t we sit down and eat?
“I haven’t had this for a year and I missed it so much. Or go to dinner with friends and be able to “encourage” each other without fear. All those little things. “
The former Disney Channel star, who released her album Plastic Hearts last year, was speaking at the launch of the new Magnum campaign she features called Miley In Layers.
The campaign, which sees her joined by British singer-songwriter Raye, will see Cyrus perform a virtual concert mastered in 8D sound.
Reflecting on the advice she would give to those who are reluctant to try new things, the Wrecking Ball singer said people should be prepared to have new experiences and do things that “scare” them.
She explained, “Usually I always tell myself that the worst that can happen is just the worst that can happen and there is really nothing that is going to be so damaging by trying something new, by experimenting, by trying a new look Most of the time I express myself through my hair so if it’s like cutting your hair and trying on a new look you can always push it back you can always flip the shoes but try them on.
“I think most of the time, my internal individuality, I like to show it outside and most of the time it’s pretty drastic. I think it’s important to do things that you’ve never done before, things that scare you, also go into situations that you don’t know much about, so that you can actually learn.
Cyrus said she tried to be experimental in her music career, adding, “So whether it’s honoring country music, which is obviously a big part of my childhood and my childhood, but then to make pop music which I love too, and to celebrate rock and roll.
She added that “no one really knows what’s good except you.”
“Success is measured in so many different ways,” she said.
“I think accomplishment and dignity, respect and honor for what you do, for me is success.”
