Cyrus, 61, reportedly met the Australian singer last year when they collaborated on a single titled New Day which was released in August 2021.
The couple are believed to be engaged after Firerose was spotted with a ‘huge’ diamond ring, reports the Sun.
The diamond ring was spotted by eagle-eyed fans in her last Instagram post on September 14.
Following an influx of comments suspecting the engagement, the singer has since restricted comments.
“Billy is happier than he has been in a long time with Firerose,” a source told The Sun.
“There had been problems in his marriage for some time. He and Tish were on and off for the better part of a decade, but things had been over for a while before the announcement in April.
“Not everyone sees his decision to move forward so quickly in the same way.”
The source went on to reference the impact on Cyrus’ children, especially Miley, 29, and her youngest, Noah, 22.
“There was some tension with Miley, which is sad to see, but everyone hopes to get over it soon enough,” they said.
“Luckily his other kids don’t have a problem with him and he just collaborated with his youngest, Noah, on a song.”
The engagement has yet to be confirmed by Firerose, Cyrus or any member of her family.
‘Irreconcilable differences’
The reported engagement comes just five months after the Old Town Road singer and his 28-year-old wife Tish filed for divorce.
The couple cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and at the time, Tish claimed they had been living apart for two years, according to US Weekly.
Tish also reportedly asked for “an equitable division and distribution of all matrimonial property” and to be granted her separate property.
Along with Miley and Noah, the couple are parents to Brandi, 35, Trace, 33, and Braison, 28.
Before the divorce announcement in April, they had separated twice before, filing for divorce in October 2010 before announcing they were withdrawing divorce papers.
“I gave up on the divorce,” Cyrus said on The View at the time.
“I want to get my family back together…Things are the best they’ve ever been.”
In June 2013, the documents were refiled by Tish and were again dropped the following month.
“We both woke up and realized we loved each other and decided we wanted to stay together,” the former couple said in a joint statement at the time.
“We both went to couples therapy, something we hadn’t done in 22 years of being together, and it brought us closer and really opened up our communication in an incredible way.”
