Miley Cyrus has been in the public eye for almost every period of her life. Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter (and goddaughter of Dolly Parton) was cast as Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel when she was just eleven years old, and her time at the House of Mouse propelled her to a layer of fame that soon eclipsed that of his immediate family members. Since then, she has remained a staple of pop culture.
After her Disney days, it took Miley a minute to lock herself in his her–she couldn’t be tamed; she entered a misguided hip-hop era; she fell in and out of love, then stripped it all down to her bare bones. It’s hard to deny, however, that Miley’s true gift is her voice, and in recent years she’s made room for that to lead the way above all else. She found a niche in rock covers and ’70s-inspired sounds, letting her rasp and vibrant stage presence act like a northern star.
Something wonderful about this current period of his career is his boundless love of travel. She doesn’t shy away from the stories and songs that brought her here, frequently gracing the crowds in 2022 with reinvented versions of bits and pieces from her Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana days.
