Microsoft teases new Start menu without dynamic thumbnails – Beebom

Recently, Microsoft somehow announced the death of “Live Tiles”, a feature that was introduced in the Windows Phone platform and then brought to Windows desktop iterations. Now the company would be considering new user interface designs in Windows without the Live Tiles in mind.

Recently in a Windows Insider podcast, a new Windows Start menu design has been revealed by the company. This new design shows no trace of Live Tiles in the Start menu. Instead, the company focuses on flatter icons with a clean look without the colored blocks. The company seeks to reduce the “chaotic” colors and add more uniformity to the icons. According to Microsoft, fewer colors in the Start menu will make it easier for users to locate applications. This new design is part of the new user interface language “Fluent Design” and Microsoft has explained everything on its official website.

One of the icon designers, Mike LaJoie, said: “The idea is to visually unify the Start menu, from a somewhat chaotic color to something a little more uniform”,

Now the company has already unveiled Windows 10X for Surface Neo and Surface Duo without Live Tiles. However, senior program director on the Windows Insider team, Brandon LeBlanc, reassured that the live tiles are here to stay for those who love them. Although it seems that the company will always abandon the functionality at some point in the future.

So what do you think about removing Live Tiles from Windows? Are you happy? Are you sad? Anyway, let us know in the comments.
