Microsoft has released a rare out-of-band update for Windows 11, Windows 10, and some versions of Windows Server. The update addresses issues with using specific VPN connections and, on Windows Server, fixes errors that could have affected server performance. Here’s what you need to know.
For Windows 11, there is KB5010795, which resolves issues with VPN connections. On Windows 10 21H2, there is KB5010793 which fixes issues with VPN connections and unexpected reboots on Windows Server domain controllers. For Windows 10 version 21H1 users, there is KB5010793 which brings the same fixes.
On Windows Server 2022, there is KB5010796. This addresses the issues we previously raised about Windows Server, covering VPNs, restarting servers, Azure Active Directory, and Resilient File System format. We’ve included links to other versions of the Knowledge Base for other versions of Windows Server below. The change logs are the same, however.
- Windows 10, version 20H2, Windows Server, version 20H2: KB5010793
- Windows 10, version 20H1, Windows Server, version 20H1: KB5010793
- Windows 10, version 1909, Windows Server, version 1909: KB5010792
- Windows 10, version 1607, Windows Server 2016: KB5010790
- Windows 10, version 1507: KB5010789
- Windows 7 SP1: KB5010798
- Windows Server 2008 SP2: KB5010799
Note that those updates we mentioned above should appear in Windows Update. However, if you are using Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, or Windows Server 2012, updates will only be available from the Microsoft Update Catalog. See pages KB5010794 and KB5010797 for more information.
